  • Summer Engagement: Priscilla Beach Theatre

    2025

I’ve just gotten the dust settled in my Fall rhythms as I reflect on a marvelous summer Music Directing for Priscilla Beach Theatre in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The company produced 4 musicals with a total of 48 performances. Repertoire included: “Bright Star” (Steve Martin, Edie Brickell), “Shrek the Musical” (David Lindsay-Abaire), “Hello, Dolly!”(Jerry Herman, Michael Stewart), and “Man of La Mancha” (Dale Wasserman, Mitch Leigh).

The casts were quite talented young professionals. Some college students, many recent graduates. The company produces shows in a very beautiful refurbished 240 seat barn with a loyal fan base of mostly season ticket holders. Most performances were sold-out.

  • Dan joins the Cape Symphony for “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert”

About a month ago I was asked to be an extra percussionist for one of the most exciting programs I’ve ever heard. I am very excited to be playing with the Cape Symphony as they accompany the film “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”.

This sort of orchestral concert has become very popular recently. In graduate school, my timpani teacher (Kyle Zerna) gifted me tickets to see the New York Philharmonic play the score to the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. As melody is integral to the actual plot of the movie – it is the way the humans communicate with the aliens – this film really came to life when the orchestra played the score life with the picture.

  • New Appointment: Music Director at Massasoit Community Theatre

I am thrilled to be joining the team at Massasoit Community Theatre. I am sincerely looking forward to leading this company as Music Director. In my brief tenure, we have produced “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin, and “Legally Blonde” by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin (book by Heather Hach).

The quality of talent in this area of Massachusetts (Brockton) is certainly a treat for me. This has allowed the entire company to really delve deep into the material, uncovering it’s subtleties and nuances. I look forward to more shows with this company.
